Six Malaysian City Councils To Get Centralised Platform By 2025
Quantela and Malaysian-based Geographic Information System (GIS), MAP2U entered a partnership to roll out what they claim to be Malaysia’s first centralised platform for urban observatory and smart city services by 2025. The move was done for PLANMalaysia, an agency under the Ministry of Housing and Local Government tasked with urban planning services. Under its Smart City agenda, PLANMalaysia is involved in developing the Smart City blueprint, introducing the national Smart City platform, and Smart City accreditation, as well as promoting Smart City awareness and capacity-building efforts. Six city councils that will receive the rollout are Putrajaya, Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Petaling Jaya, and Kulim. Phase one of the project is expected to be completed by December 2025. The partnership hopes that future phases of the project would include the other 155 city councils across Malaysia.
